Anthony Stewart Head was born to Helen Shingler, an actress. His father, Seafield Head, is a documentary filmmaker and founder of Verity films. He has a brother, Murray Head who’s an actor and singer. They both played Freddy Trumper in ‘Chess’ at the Prince Edward Theatre. Anthony attended London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. His role on the musical ‘Godspell’ led to his role in ‘Enemy at the Door’. In 1997, he accepted the role of Rupert Giles on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. He appeared as a regular throughout the first six seasons of show and later he made several appearances as a guest star. In 2001, he appeared in the webcast version of ‘Doctor Who’, a very popular British Science Fiction. In 2002, he was seen in ‘Manchild’. His guest appearances are on shows ‘Silent Witness’, ‘Murder Investigation Team’, and ‘Spooks’ and ‘Monarch of the Glen’, Excelis Trilogy’. In 2003, he played Abi’s father in the British hit sitcom ‘My Family’. In the BBC comedy sketch show ‘Little Britain’, he was featured as the Prime Minister from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, he appeared in an episode of ‘Hotel Babylon’. He also made his appearance on ‘Him and Us’, a new show based on the life of a gay rock star. The man has also tried his hand in singing and released an album of songs, Music for Elevators, with musician George Sarah.

In 2007′s radio comedy ‘Bleak Expectations’, he portrayed a gay man and on ITV1 drama ‘Sold, he appeared as Mr. Colubrine. He was also seen in BBC drama ‘The Invisibles’ as Maurice Riley. After watching his superb performance on ‘Buffy’, Darren Lynn Bousman offered him a role in his 21^st century musical ‘Repo! The genetic Opera’. He currently appears on BBC drama series ‘Merlin’ as Uther Pendragon. American television credits him his full name and sometimes as Tony Head.

He lives with his partner Sarah Fisher and the couple has to two daughters, namely Emily and Daisy.
